Worcester College was founded in the 18th century and is known for its 26 acres of beautiful grounds featuring numerous green spaces, ducks, an orchard, and the College sports field. The College values welfare very highly and has a number of avenues of support for College members with any kind of problem. There are generally 3 bops a term, where two take place in the college bar, and the third takes place in a club. Other regular social events include themed evenings, comedy nights, and charity auctions amongst other events.

Christ Church is located on St Aldate’s, close to the Oxford city centre and the Bodleian Library. The college hosts the famous Oxford cathedral and on the other side is the serene Christ Church Meadow.

Societies

Christ Church hosts a plethora of societies, including the;

Accommodation

Most accommodation is found on the main college site, but some students live in self-catered flats a short distance away. Flats have a mix of en-suites and shared bathrooms, and a fridge is provided for each room.

Most first and third years live on-site.

The rooms cost the same and are arranged around ‘quads’ where bills are paid for. Some second and third years may live in one of the college annexes, which are accommodation buildings off the main college site.

There are no kitchens for self-catering, and each meal is served in the Great Hall, which is paid on a termly basis, with the cost in 2011-22 being £2.86 per dinner.

Sports

The Christ Church Sports ground gives members access to two football pitches, two rugby pitches, a cricket ground, grass tennis courts and other games areas.

The Christ Church Boat Club is famous for its achievements in rowing competitions.

Welfare

Christ Church has a student-run welfare team, who organise weekly tea breaks for students to chat to their peers, led by a professional counselling service.

College welfare staff are also supportive for issues students may be facing and help run events for Christ Church students to feel like they are part of a community.

Miscellaneous
  • The Great Hall for dining is the very same hall featured in all of the Harry Potter films.
  • Oxford hosts special events in the Great Hall, including twice termly black tie guest dinners, a special Christmas dinner with tutors, and themed formals in collaboration with charities.
  • The 18th century library is not open 24/7, but the law library is open 24/7 for Christ Church Law students only.
  • There are no kitchens for self-catering, and each meal is served in the Great Hall, which is paid on a termly basis, with the cost in 2011-22 being £2.86 per dinner. There are food reps who help make sure all students’ food choices are accounted for.
  • The College has a cake rep whose job it is to buy every member of college one cake per term!
  • The JCR holds twice-termly ‘bops’ which is a feature unique to only some colleges.
