Worcester College was founded in the 18th century and is known for its 26 acres of beautiful grounds featuring numerous green spaces, ducks, an orchard, and the College sports field. The College values welfare very highly and has a number of avenues of support for College members with any kind of problem. There are generally 3 bops a term, where two take place in the college bar, and the third takes place in a club. Other regular social events include themed evenings, comedy nights, and charity auctions amongst other events.

Financial support

Jesus College offer a Hardship Fund for any students who encounter unexpected financial difficulties.  Homerton has a number of grants and bursaries for travel and research expenses related to a student’s studies.  There are also several awards based on sports or academia that students can receive monetary prizes for.

Societies

Societies at Jesus College include:

Accommodation

All undergraduate students are allocated rooms in College accommodation.  All rooms are furnished and centrally heated with access to laundry facilities and basic kitchens.  Most rooms are en-suite with the rest having access to shared bathrooms and showers.  Second, third and fourth year students can choose to live in shared houses which are off site and owned by Jesus College.  Rent varies from roughly £110 per week to £168 per week.

Jesus College aims to offer all postgraduate students up to 3 years of College accommodation.  All rooms have cooking, laundry and Wi-fi facilities, with the majority of rooms located a short distance from the main site.

Sports

Jesus College has a variety of sports teams available for new students to join, including football, badminton, cross country running, volleyball, water polo and more.  On the College site there are cricket, rugby and football pitches, as well as courts for tennis, basketball and netball.  There are further facilities for rowing a few hundred metres away.

Welfare

The College has a dedicated counsellor, nurse and physiotherapist to help with any concerns with physical or mental wellbeing.  The welfare team can also help to direct students on to further services and resources.  Welfare tutors are also on call to give advice and support to students who feel they could benefit from talking to a member of staff.
