Founded in 1448, Queens’ College is one of the oldest Cambridge colleges.  Spanning the river Cam, students have plenty of areas to relax and socialise, with a host of societies and activities also on offer.  Furthermore, Queens’ College has an excellent academic reputation, with over 30% of undergraduate students achieving a First Class degree in 2019.

Cambridge bursaries are available for students with unexpected financial difficulties.  As well as this, there are a variety of grants available for study, travel and research related expenses.  Postgraduate students can apply for a number of scholarships and grants related to specific courses and areas of research.

Life at College
Societies

Societies at Queen’s College include:

Accommodation

Queens’ College provides 3 years of accommodation for undergraduate students, with rooms located either on the main site or off site on Owlstone Croft.  All rooms are fully furnished with central heating and shared kitchen facilities.  Some rooms come with en-suite facilities, with the remaining rooms having shared bathrooms.  Rooms vary in price from £1320 to £2880 per quarter.

Accommodation is also available for postgraduate students as well, with the majority of these rooms located off the main College site.  There are also limited accommodation options available for couples and a nursery for pre-school children.

Sports

Queen’s College has a variety of sport teams, with students able to choose from hockey, netball, rowing, sailing, tennis and many more.  Students can make use of excellent facilities at Barton Road Sports Ground a short distance away from the main College site

Welfare

Students can talk to their Colle Tutors for advice and support on personal, financial and academic issues.  Tutors work closely with the Health and Wellbeing Team and can liaise with the Director of Studies, Welfare Advisers or College Nurses to provide further support

Miscellaneous
  • BATS, Queens’ resident theatre group, are renowned for their excellent renditions of Shakespeare plays.  Held in Cloister Court each year, this group is famous for previously housing talent like Stephen Fry, Simon Bird and Stephanie Bain
  • Queens’ College has its own nursery based at Owlstone Croft for children aged 3 months to 5 years
  • Every 2 years, the College hosts a large and lavish May Ball, complete with a fireworks display and musical acts.  Previous acts include Bastille, Florence and the Machine and Kaiser Chiefs
