Natural Sciences at Cambridge allows students to explore a range of physical and biological sciences across 16 different departments.  Through working with leading researchers, students can also appreciate various aspects of science and understand the relationships between them.

Admission Test for Natural Sciences at CambridgeNSAA + Interview

The Natural Sciences Admissions Assessment is a combination of two multiple-choice tests in Biology, Physics and Chemistry designed to test candidates’ aptitude for these subjects.  It is two hours in total and usually takes place in November.

What is Natural Sciences at Cambridge?Studying Natural Sciences at Cambridge allows students to understand how the world and universe work. Students can choose from a wide variety of scientific subjects as well as specialise in an area of their interest.

Natural Sciences can help to develop the theoretical knowledge of many aspects of science. Students will then learn how to apply this knowledge to the real world, both in terms of research and in terms of practicality, thereby growing their critical thinking abilities and practical skills.

Structure of the courseYear 1 – Students choose three subjects from a wide range, including Biology of Cells, Earth Sciences, Material Sciences and others.  Students are also obliged to pick one Mathematics option from Mathematics or Mathematical Biology.

Year 2 – Students choose a combination of three subjects. They delve into further detail, such as Developmental Biology, Ecology or others.

Year 3 and 4
– Students can opt to follow a subject from second year in a broader spectrum or specialise in a particular discipline. Students will also undertake a research project or dissertation in their chosen field.
