Worcester College was founded in the 18th century and is known for its 26 acres of beautiful grounds featuring numerous green spaces, ducks, an orchard, and the College sports field. The College values welfare very highly and has a number of avenues of support for College members with any kind of problem. There are generally 3 bops a term, where two take place in the college bar, and the third takes place in a club. Other regular social events include themed evenings, comedy nights, and charity auctions amongst other events.

Exeter College is located on Turl Street in the heart of Oxford. The location is close to the main libraries, shops, and restaurants. It is the fourth oldest college in Oxford.

Life at College
Societies

The College has a lively music, arts and drama scene, and each year, students host the Turl Street Arts Festival which includes an exhibition of plays, talks, and concerts alongside the Lincoln and Jesus Colleges. The College has its own music practice room and performance space.

Accommodation

Undergraduate students are guaranteed three years’ accommodation in Exeter College rooms, and fourth-years residence is subject to availability. All first-years live on Turl Street, at the heart of the city centre, right near to lecture halls and the city centre amenities. Each room is looked after by a domestic staff member and the Turl Street site includes a laundry room for students to use. Most of the rooms across all sites are individual study bedrooms with a sink. After the first year, students can continue to live on Turl Street, in the nearby Cohen Quad, or share a house in East Oxford.

For graduates, accommodation is provided at Exeter House, a large building consisting of variable sized rooms which also acts as a social hub all year young for graduate students.

The College has a few cafes across its sites where you can purchase breakfast and snacks from the morning until mid-afternoon. There is also a bar which acts as a versatile social eating space on the main college site. The dining room operates a Upay system where payment is made before mealtime.

Sports

The College sports ground is located between the University Parks and Marston and the Boat Club, on Boathouses Walk. Students can join a plethora of sports teams and clubs, as well as partake in termly punting and croquet. The college also has its own gym with a function weights room.

Welfare

Exeter College offers a welfare team, college officers and peer volunteers who are all trained by the University Counselling Service to provide support for students. Academic support is also available.

  • The College hosts Second Hall, dinner where students are required to wear gowns and are served by table service. Special dinners are hosted here, and students are allowed to bring guests.
  • The College is very LGBT friendly, and hosts LGBT dinners in the second hall alongside having among the highest LGBT funding out of all of the colleges in Oxford.
  • Exeter holds ‘bops’ (parties where students dress up and drink ‘bop-juice’) which are popular social events amongst students and is one of the only colleges to have a black-tie ball every year.
