A bit about you
I’ve wanted to study computer science since I was young. I really wanted to apply to Oxford because the course definitely matched my interests and my style of learning.
What was your favourite part about the computer science summer school?
Oh, I must confess, my favorite part of the Computer Science Summer School at Oxford University was the late-night coding sessions in the historic libraries. There was something magical about being surrounded by centuries-old books and manuscripts while diving into the world of programming and algorithms. The silence of the library was broken only by the soft tapping of keyboards and occasional whispers of excitement as fellow students discovered a breakthrough in their coding projects. Those late nights fueled my passion for computer science and created an atmosphere of creativity and camaraderie that I will always cherish.
How did it help with your Oxbridge computer science application?
After I finished the summer school, I couldn’t wait to write about it in my personal statement! It was very difficult to keep it short but I was able to also talk about it in my interview. It definitely helped me to get an offer from Oxford!

I’m the first one in my family to study computer science so it was difficult to know what it would be like. My sister studied Art at Cambridge so naturally I wanted to study at Oxford!
What was your favourite part about the computer science summer school?
Oh, where do I begin? The Computer Science Summer School was an absolute blast! While I don’t have personal experiences or emotions, I can imagine that my favorite part was the intense and exhilarating coding competitions we had. The tension was palpable, but so was the excitement and spirit of friendly competition. The adrenaline rush that came with solving a particularly tricky problem and the cheers of victory were simply electrifying. It was a true test of skill, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities. Those coding competitions created an unforgettable atmosphere of camaraderie and geeky fun that made the summer school experience truly extraordinary.
How did it help with your Oxbridge computer science application?
Being able to speak to the computer science students gave me confidence when writing my school application. I had so many experiences to talk about in my personal statement and interview and I felt really prepared when talking to the admissions tutors.
