Worcester College was founded in the 18th century and is known for its 26 acres of beautiful grounds featuring numerous green spaces, ducks, an orchard, and the College sports field. The College values welfare very highly and has a number of avenues of support for College members with any kind of problem. There are generally 3 bops a term, where two take place in the college bar, and the third takes place in a club. Other regular social events include themed evenings, comedy nights, and charity auctions amongst other events.

Life at College | |
Societies | Worcester College has a lively arts scene and runs termly open mic nights. There is an annual Arts Week, where students get involved in art and photography competitions, and an annual arts event- ‘Worc in the Park’. This event showcases Worcester arts, music, drama, dance, and face painting. The Drama Society always puts on a summer garden production. Every week, the Music Society puts on concerts in the Memorial Room which students are able to attend. As well as these opportunities, there are over 300 university societies you can join. The JCR and MCR organise a range of social activities each term, such as guest night dinners, ‘bops’, quizzes, and an annual ‘Arts Week’. The MCR also organises Franks Society talks which are bi-termly talks given by graduate students to all members of the MCR. |
Accommodation | The College offers accommodation to all undergraduate students for the first three years of their undergraduate degree. All of the accommodation is located on the main College site and most of the rooms are ensuite with access to shared kitchens. There are 6 grades of room, and the rent is based upon the size and age of the room. All first years are required to live in College, and second years must ask the Dean for permission to move out after the first year. For graduate students, the rooms are single-occupancy rooms with a limited number of two-bedroom flats for couples or students with a family. The College aims to house most first-year graduate students. Most of the accommodation is on residential streets surrounding the College site, or in houses converted for student use or in purpose-built graduate Halls. More information can be found here for graduates and here for undergraduates. |
Sports | Worcester is the only College to have its sports facilities on the main college site. The fields are used for a wide range of sports and there are 3 tennis courts, a netball court, and a multi-gym available too. The College has an active Boat Club with a boathouse on the Thames. There are male and female teams available in most sports and the College takes part in inter-collegiate competitions. |
Welfare | There are many senior and junior members of the College who make up the Welfare Team. The College Nurse is based in College for any health issues students may experience, and the doctor’s surgery is across the road. Apart from the Peer Supporters, JCR Welfare reps, and tutors, other sources of support include counselling support, and support for LGBTQ+ students from the JCR. Undergraduate students will receive a College family when they start University. |
