    A bit about you

I’ve wanted to study medicine since I was young as my dad is a doctor in our local hospital. I really wanted to apply to Oxford because the course definitely matched my medical interests and my style of learning.

What was your favourite part about the medicine summer school?

That’s difficult to answer! I loved the trauma ward simulation. I felt that it gave me a real insight into what emergency doctors do every day. I thought that the mix between hands-on experiences and the ability to talk to medical professionals was so useful.

How did it help with your Oxbridge medicine application?

After I finished the summer school, I couldn’t wait to write about it in my personal statement! It was very difficult to keep it short but I was able to also talk about it in my medical interview. It definitely helped me to get an offer from Oxford!

    A bit about you

I’m the first one in my family to study medicine so it was difficult to know what it would be like. My sister studied Art at Cambridge so naturally I wanted to study at Oxford!

What was your favourite part about the medicine summer school?

As I had no previous experience of what it would be like to apply to medicine, study it or be a doctor, I found the networking opportunities the most useful. I really enjoyed speaking to the doctors and nurses about their experience as well as how/why certain procedures are done. The day at Oxford University was great – I got some brilliant advice from other students about applying to Oxford as well as tips for my first year.

How did it help with your Oxbridge medicine application?

Being able to speak to the medical students gave me confidence when writing my medical school application. I had so many experiences to talk about in my personal statement and interview and I felt really prepared when talking to the admissions tutors.
