Waiting for medicine offers to be sent out can be a very nerve wracking and anxiety inducing experience. Once you’ve finished your interviews, you could also be waiting between two weeks to six months to hear back from the medical schools you applied to.
This may lead to frequently engaging in Student Room forums, anxiously checking your emails, and constantly refreshing your UCAS application page. It can also feel disheartening when people you know have received medicine offers while you’re still waiting in the dark.
When do Universities Give Offers?
Medicine offers are sent at different times depending on the university’s application timeline, including when they sent out interview invitations, when interviews were held, and formal decisions. Timelines can also vary year on year, depending on additional unforeseen circumstances.

General Pattern: When Do Medicine Offers Come Out?
When do medical schools offer interviews?
As most medical schools carry out interviews between December and March, they often send offers from March onwards.
Of course there will be some exceptions. For example, Oxford and Cambridge complete interviews much earlier, in December, so they send medical school offers in January. This is similar to the time period for the Cardiff medical school interview, which take place in December and January. In contrast, the Aberdeen medicine interview period is between December and March so you could receive an offer any time after that. However, some universities may not even have a set date or time period where offers are released, and instead will send out medical offers with little advanced notice.

When Do You Have to Accept Medical School Offers?
Release of medical school offers can change year on year and due to unexpected circumstances. So do try to be patient if the date where you expected to receive an offer passes and you are still waiting to hear anything. If the date passes and you still haven’t received a response, students are also able to email the admissions team to gain more information. Accepting medical school offers will also differ depending on the university. This will be specified in your acceptance letter. Be sure to accept your offer within the timeframe given to avoid any difficulties after this date.
