| What is PPL Course at Oxford? | PPL at Oxford is a mixture of Psychology, Philosophy and Linguistics. Oxford PPL students are able to choose from several different subjects within these topics. Studying Psychology at Oxford encourages students to develop their critical thinking and research skills by giving them experience in performing experiments. | Structure of PPL Course at Oxford | Terms 1 and 2 of Oxford PPL Course – three introductory courses are taken in Psychology, Philosophy, Linguistics, Neurophysiology and Probability theory and statistics. Finally, assessments involve six written papers. Terms 3 – 9 of Oxford PPL Course – students can continue with a bipartite degree (e.g. Psychology and Philosophy) or a tripartite degree (Psychology, Philosophy and Linguistics). Students doing Psychology study a choice of core subjects as well as a course in Experimental Design. Students doing Philosophy can also choose from a range of subjects, such as Philosophy of mind or cognitive science. Students selecting Linguistics can select between three to five courses in Linguistics. Assessments consist of eight papers, with several practical portfolios also required for Psychology. Terms 10 – 12 of Oxford PPL Course– this is the fourth year, therefore concerning the MSci. Students receive skills-based training and work on their extended projects in their chosen field.
